Freiburg, October 18, 2024 - The Rudolf Haufe Prize has been awarded at the University of Freiburg since 2002. This year, two academics were honored for their outstanding academic work in tax and business law: Arrita Domi and Dr. Tim Prakash.

Arrita Domi from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Behavioral Sciences received the award for her master's thesis entitled "Natives' perception of immigration and its effects on tax redistribution: An experimental study". Against the backdrop of current debates on immigration and labor shortages, the prizewinner investigated the extent to which the perception of immigration in Germany influences the preferences of natives with regard to tax redistribution.

Dr. Tim Prakash from the Faculty of Law was awarded for his thesis entitled "The Introduction of a Scheme of Arrangement into German Stock Corporation Law". This dissertation deals with the so-called scheme of arrangement, a reorganization procedure under English law, which is repeatedly taken up in the discussion about the reform of German stock corporation law. The thesis examines the extent to which the introduction of a scheme of arrangement based on the British model is suitable for meeting the need for reform in Germany.

The 5,000 euro Rudolf Haufe Young Talent Award was presented at the opening ceremony of the Academic Year in the Paulussaal of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg. The University of Freiburg and Haufe Group have been working together for over 30 years. In 2002, Haufe Group endowed the Rudolf Haufe Award for the first time. With this award, Haufe Group aims to support academics in the early stages of their careers and to contribute to the further convergence of theory and practice in the fields of economics and law. The prize honors outstanding academic achievements of high practical relevance. These include, for example, master's theses, dissertations or post-doctoral theses in the field of economics or law with a particular reference to tax and commercial law.
