The software startup DYNO, a pioneer of commission-free and transparent company pension plans, has expanded its pre-seed financing round to over 2.5 million euros.

Freiburg/Offenburg, July 22, 2024 — The software startup DYNO, a pioneer of commission-free and transparent company pension plans, has expanded its pre-seed financing round to over 2.5 million euros. With Haufe Group Ventures, DYNO also gained an experienced strategic partner who can draw on decades of entrepreneurial expertise and the strong network of Haufe Group SE. The partnership is intended to accelerate the transformation of company pension plans and enable the expansion of the customer base. Haufe Group Ventures is leading the expansion of the financing round with the participation of existing investors such as LEA Partners and Maetch VC, as well as the new investor Quint Ventures (including managers from Personio and HashiCorp).

Millions of workers in Germany are at risk of poverty in old age. While there were still around six contributors to one pensioner in the 1960s, this ratio is estimated to be only 1.5 to one in 2030. There is also a lack of financial provision: Employees can hardly expect any return even after taking out a company pension plan due to high brokerage commissions. Although they have saved every month, they must reckon with a surprisingly large pension gap. DYNO is trying to change this: With software that reduces manual administration processes for companies by 91%, and 100% commission-free contracts that provide employees with up to 60,000 euros more pension over the long term.

The vision: DYNO revolutionizes retirement planning

Since its founding, DYNO has developed very well and has established itself on the market as a relevant company in the area of retirement planning. It has already convinced well-known customers such as Europa-Park, Freeletics, Herrenknecht and remote to improve their company pension scheme (bAV). Because the demands of employees are increasing: bAV has been at the forefront of the most important corporate benefits for years.

DYNO's digital platform is aimed at both private individuals and companies. It enables workers to understand and manage their retirement plans and identify and close potential pension gaps. With DYNO, companies can manage their retirement and health benefits quickly and efficiently — without commissions and paper chaos. High investment rates in ETFs and the ability to trade for employees also make DYNO an attractive choice.

The strategic partnership enables synergies between Haufe Group Ventures' entrepreneurial experience in SMEs and DYNO's new technology. Together, they want to fundamentally change the way companies design and manage retirement plans — and thus secure the future of employees. The regional proximity of both companies also strengthens operational cooperation and enables rapid scaling in the market.

“Getting a grip on pensions is one of the most urgent social issues in Germany. That is why company pension provision is rightly becoming more and more important. Unfortunately, traditional bAV is often associated with very high costs and therefore falls short of its options. At DYNO, we are radically rethinking company pension plans. We are all the more pleased that Haufe Group Ventures is now supporting us on our journey as a partner and that we can meet the increasing demand in the market,” says Co-Founder & CEO Marc Karkossa.

“DYNO offers an innovative solution to one of the biggest social problems of our time. As a partner, we want to support DYNO with our expertise in the corporate service sector in securing the future of employees in Germany. Personally, I am particularly looking forward to bringing DYNO's great team forward and contributing my previous experience with early-stage startups,” says Jasper Roll, managing director of Haufe Group Ventures.
